Perry is the daughter of actor Laurie Metcalf, and Jeff Perry. Her first appearance was in the television screen as Jackie Harris, a character which was played by her mother in her role on the ABC show Roseanne. But her parents would not allow her to act until she turned an adult due to the effects stress would be able to have on their daughter. Perry was a shy teenager and didn't act. The actress began her acting career in the year 2000 at Northwestern University to gain friends when she transferred from Boston University. Perry made her debut in New York after graduation, performing in minor role on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Then, homesickness led to Perry return to California and pursue a career as an actress in the theater. Perry performed with her mom as part of The Other Place at Broadway, back in 2013. The father of her Kevin McKidd performed in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer prize-winning film Anna Christie with her in 2015. Perry appeared in 9 episodes on ABC's drama The Family during 2016. She had a regular role in the ABC drama about politics Scandal that starred her dad. In addition, she played the younger Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon, a CBS spin-off of The Big Bang Theory. The character was picked by auditions, even the fact that she had a deep connection with it.
